Saturday May 14th Port Alberni, BC
I feel very fortunate to have purchased the Blue Starr from such a hospitable and good soul. Serge invited Otto and I to go along on a hike with some good friends and Otto's new dog girlfriend (Saber) along the Alberni Inlet Trail. My words cannot do the beauty of this place justice. There is no lack of subject matter for a camera.
We drove roughly 5 minutes out of Port Alberni and came to the trail head. Started our hike into the rain forest and immediately started gaining elevation. Walking through the forest and up to a peak elevation of 300 m (about 1000 ft) where you can see the great vast expanse of the Alberni Inlet and almost right down to where the boat is located. As you gain elevation the rain forest subsides to a much more arid and rocky landscape. I witnessed my first Arbutus tree which I instantly fell in love with due to its perfectly smooth and beautifully colored surface. We sat at a viewing area for a snack, some water and a chance to meditate and take in the beauty of nature.
After our trek back down and back into reality we were all sufficiently tuckered out. Otto and I went back to the boat to rest before and excellent dinner Serge and Nelly were kind enough to make for all. What a wonderful Saturday.
